How to Use Sessions in Sole Invoice
Using Sessions in Sole Invoice
Sessions in Sole Invoice are a tool that allows for you to record class or session based work for your clients. This is particularly useful for professionals such as tutors, coaches, or consultants who bill clients based on sessions rather than hourly or daily rates. By using sessions, you can easily track the number of sessions provided to each client and store this information in Sole Invoice alongside your invoices.
Creating a Session
To get started we first need to create a session. This can be done by navigating to the "Sessions" page via the sidebar and then clicking "Create Session" in the top right corner. Once the session form is open all we need to do is enter a name and a cost for the session.
Recording Attendance
After creating a session, we have the option of recording attendance for our clients. This is one of the ways we can invoice for our session, the other being pre-paid. To record attendance for a session, navigate to the "Session Attendance" page and then use either the "Record Attendance" button or the "Bulk Record Attendance" button to record attendance for a session.

For bulk recording of attendance clients must be allocated to a session, which is done from the "Clients" page, by clicking on the "Manage Sessions" button in the client row.

Invoicing for Sessions
We can now invoice clients based on our sessions. Head over to the "Invoices" page and click "Create Invoice". Once the invoice form is open, select an active client from the dropdown menu. If we have recorded attendance for this client, we will be able to select for which of the sesions we wish to invoice.

Otherwise, we can invoice for sessions in the "Add Sessions" section of the invoice form. Here we can select any session and specify a quantity to add it to the invoice. This is useful for pre-paid sessions, where we want to invoice for sessions before they have been attended.

Once all other items are added to the invoice, we can create the invoice by clicking the "Create Invoice" button. The sessions will now be included as line items on the invoice, with the quantity reflecting either the number of sessions attended or the number of pre-paid sessions added to the invoice.
Pro Tip
If using pre-paid sessions, record session attendance in Sole Invoice to keep track of how many sessions have been attended and how many are remaining for your clients.
